Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad
The Stone Mountain Railroad is a neat little (if you call a 5 mile loop little) railroad in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The tracks were first used by the quarries on the mountain, then it was owned by CSX, and then it was used for the ill fated New Georgia Railroad (which was mainly run by the Southeastern Railway Museum) (the reason the train failed was due to a new governor who did not share the same love of railroads did not want to fund the diner train anymore), finally the Stone mountain RR was created, and has run there ever since. The crews are really nice, and it is fun to talk to them after your ride if you can catch them. I would recommend visiting the place.
P.S. As a side note the railroad and the park is owned by Silver Dollar City, who also owns Dollywood.
P.P.S. The park's town is similar to Tweetsie's town minus the western feel, and more of a southern feel with a southern style depot (at least I think it is similar to a Southern Ry. depot).
